Miley marks career milestone
Singer receives Hollywood Walk of Fame star surrounded by family and friends
Singer-actor Miley Cyrus turned emotional while accepting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, thanking her family and loved ones for supporting her through both her achievements and fears.
The 33-year-old artiste was honoured during a ceremony on Friday, attended by close friends and family, including mother Tish Cyrus, sister Brandi Cyrus, and fiancé Maxx Morando.
While addressing the gathering, Miley struggled to hold back tears as she spoke about the people who stood beside her throughout her journey. “This is where it gets me,” the singer said during her speech. “To my family, my future family, parents, my mom, my siblings, my friends, my collaborators, thank you for loving and supporting not only the choices that I make, but my fears, and then facing them with me,” she added emotionally.
“Today is something that I’ll never forget, and I’m always going to cherish. I love you all so much, thank you,” Miley said before putting on her sunglasses.
Fashion designer Donatella Versace and actor Anya Taylor-Joy were also present at the ceremony and delivered speeches in her honour. However, Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was notably absent from the event.
Earlier in her speech, the singer reflected on the deeper meaning behind receiving a Walk of Fame star, referencing her song Walk of Fame. “This star somehow represents immortality,” Miley said. “What feels so special to me about this star is that it’s an accumulation of devotion. A star isn’t something that you win like a seasonal game. It’s not something that you can chase or collect,” she added.
The singer also reminisced about childhood trips to Los Angeles with her father long before she became famous. “When I first came to LA from Nashville as a little girl, my family would stay at a hotel on Hollywood Blvd,” Miley had earlier written on Instagram after her star announcement last year. “To now be cemented on this legendary boulevard, surrounded by the icons who inspired me, feels like a dream,” she added

The singer set off fresh marriage rumours at the event, after her mother Tish Cyrus appeared to refer to Miley’s fiancé Maxx Morando as her “husband”.
