At just 25, Nadia Pathan has made history as the youngest female councillor ever elected to the 192‑member Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. A BSc graduate in microbiology, she won from Maktampura ward, where Congress swept the entire panel.

Attending her first board meeting on Tuesday with clear goals, Nadia said she will focus on education, particularly expanding anganwadis across the city.

She also aims to introduce science streams in Maktampura schools, noting that local girls aspire to pursue science but lack access beyond Class 10.

Inspired by her father’s long service in Congress, Nadia pursued her dream of representing her community. Alongside education, she has pledged to address pressing civic issues in her ward, including drinking water and drainage.
